To further consolidate its access to the North American fenestration market, Meidoor Factory successfully welcomed a team of on-site inspectors from the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) in mid-November. The three-day acceptance process focused on verifying Meidoor’s product energy efficiency testing capabilities, quality management system, and compliance with NFRC’s strict certification standards—key prerequisites for the factory’s new energy-efficient 90S series fixed windows to enter the U.S. and Canadian markets.
As the most authoritative fenestration energy efficiency certification body in North America, NFRC’s certification directly determines whether products can meet the energy consumption regulations of U.S. states (such as California’s Title 24) and Canadian provinces (including Ontario’s Building Code). For Meidoor, which has been accelerating its North American market layout, this on-site acceptance is a critical step following the R&D completion of its 90S series fixed windows.
The NFRC inspection team carried out a comprehensive and rigorous assessment covering three core dimensions. First, in terms of testing capability verification, the inspectors reviewed the calibration records of Meidoor’s in-house thermal insulation testing laboratory, including the accuracy of equipment for measuring U-factor (heat transfer coefficient) and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)—two core indicators for NFRC certification. They also witnessed a live test of the 90S series fixed windows, confirming that the laboratory’s test data was consistent with third-party verification results
Second, the team conducted an in-depth inspection of Meidoor’s production quality control system. From the incoming inspection of raw materials (such as low-emissivity glass and thermal break aluminum profiles) to the key process monitoring (including frame welding and sealant application), and finally to the finished product sampling inspection, the inspectors checked the traceability of each link and confirmed that Meidoor’s quality management system fully meets NFRC’s “Quality Assurance Program” requirements.
Third, the inspectors reviewed product documentation and data integrity, including prototype test reports, production process specifications, and batch production records of the MD80E series. They emphasized that the consistency between product design, testing, and mass production is the core of NFRC certification, and Meidoor’s standardized document management system was highly recognized.
“Meidoor’s preparation for NFRC certification is comprehensive and systematic, especially in the accuracy of energy efficiency testing and the strictness of quality control,” said John Anderson, the leader of the NFRC inspection team. “The on-site verification results show that the factory has the capability to stably produce fenestration products that meet North American energy efficiency standards, which lays a solid foundation for subsequent product certification.”
Meidoor’s North America Market Director, stated that the smooth progress of the NFRC on-site acceptance is a key milestone for the company’s North American strategy. “The U.S. and Canadian markets have extremely high requirements for energy-efficient building materials. Obtaining NFRC certification will enable our MD80E series to break through regional regulatory barriers, and better meet the needs of local developers for green and low-carbon buildings.”
