Meidoor Holds Internal Technical Seminar to Accelerate Christmas Production & Refine R&D for North America, Australia & Canada

To meet the peak season demand ahead of the Christmas holiday and align its product strategy with key global markets, Meidoor Factory hosted a cross-departmental internal technical seminar in 4th November. The event brought together teams from production, R&D, quality control (QC), and supply chain management, with a dual focus: optimizing production efficiency to fast-track order fulfillment before Christmas shutdowns, and refining new product R&D directions tailored to the unique needs of the North American, Australian, and Canadian markets.

Prioritizing Christmas Production: Speed Without Compromising Quality

With global shipping deadlines for Christmas-bound orders tightening (typically early December for transatlantic/transpacific deliveries), the production team led a deep dive into process optimization. Key actionable measures agreed upon included:

Streamlined shift scheduling: Implementing a 3-shift rotation for core production lines (e.g., window frame fabrication, glazing assembly) to reduce downtime, starting mid-November. This is expected to boost daily output by 25% while ensuring staff rest compliance.

Pre-emptive component stockpiling: Working with certified suppliers to stockpile high-demand parts—such as Australian-standard hinges, North American ENERGY STAR-compliant weatherstripping, and Canadian cold-resistant hardware—by late October, eliminating delays from last-minute material shortages.

Digital production tracking: Rolling out a real-time ERP system update to monitor order progress, flag bottlenecks (e.g., slow-moving glazing batches), and adjust workflows dynamically.

Critical to these efficiency gains is a non-negotiable focus on quality. The QC team outlined enhanced checks to prevent shortcuts:

Adding 2 extra inspection nodes (after frame welding and before final packaging) for all Christmas-bound orders.

“Speed is essential for Christmas, but quality is our reputation,” said Meidoor’s Production Director during the seminar. “Our plan ensures we meet deadlines and deliver products that live up to local standards—no compromises.”

Refining New Product R&D for North America, Australia & Canada

The seminar’s second core agenda centered on tailoring upcoming R&D to three high-potential markets, drawing on feedback from recent client visits and market data:

North America: Focusing on energy efficiency and storm resistance. New R&D will prioritize triple-glazed sliding windows (to meet ENERGY STAR’s 2024 stricter U-factor requirements) and impact-resistant entrance doors (for hurricane-prone regions like Florida). The team also plans to integrate smart locks compatible with North American home automation systems (e.g., Alexa, Google Home) by Q1 2025.

Australia: Building on existing Australian Standard compliance, R&D will shift to coastal durability and sustainability. Upcoming products include aluminum frames with enhanced anti-corrosion coatings (for Perth and Sydney’s salt air) and recycled aluminum casement windows—aligning with Australia’s growing demand for eco-friendly building materials.

Canada: Addressing extreme cold and snow loads. New designs will feature thicker thermal breaks (to reduce heat loss in -30°C winters) and reinforced window sills (to withstand heavy snow accumulation). The team also aims to certify a new line of frost-resistant sliding doors to meet Canada’s National Building Code (NBC) by early 2025.

Each R&D direction includes input from local market experts—such as a Canadian architectural consultant who joined the seminar virtually to share insights on cold-climate performance needs.

Looking Ahead

The seminar concluded with a timeline for implementation: production optimizations launch mid-November, while R&D prototypes for the three markets will undergo initial testing by late December (post-Christmas rush). Meidoor’s CEO emphasized that the dual focus on production speed and market-specific R&D is key to its 2025 global growth goals.

“Christmas is a short-term deadline, but these decisions set us up for long-term success in North America, Australia, and Canada,” he noted. “By listening to market needs and protecting quality, we’re building trust that extends far beyond the holiday season.”
